Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Monthpot, a household budget planner. We kept them short and plain. Please read them before you sign up.
1. Who we are
Monthpot is run by Affintech LLC, registered at Sharjah Media City (Shams) Free Zone, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Affintech LLC, and "you" means the person using Monthpot.
You can reach us at info@affintech.com.
2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using Monthpot, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Monthpot.
Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data. Our refund policy explains our money-back guarantee and forms part of these terms.
3. Who can use Monthpot
You must be at least 16 years old to use Monthpot. When you invite people into a household, you confirm that you are happy for them to see its financial information.
4. Accounts and households
You sign in through our sign-in provider. Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
Monthpot is organised in households. Each household has one plan, and each person in it has one of three roles:
- Owner: runs the household. The Owner manages the plan and billing, and can invite and remove members.
- Admin: helps run the household, and can invite and remove members.
- Member: uses the household's plan, budgets, cards, loans and goals.
Everyone in a household can see that household's data. Invite only people you want to see your household's finances. You can leave a household at any time, and an Owner or Admin can remove you.
5. Acceptable use
Use Monthpot only for lawful, personal and household purposes. You must not:
- break any law, or use Monthpot for fraud or money laundering;
- enter other people's personal or financial data unless you have the right to;
- impersonate someone, sign an agreement in someone else's name, or forge a signature;
- use invitations or agreement requests to spam, harass or mislead anyone;
- try to get into accounts or households that are not yours, or probe or break our security;
- upload malware, or anything designed to harm Monthpot or its users;
- overload the service, or scrape or copy it with automated tools;
- copy, reverse engineer, resell or rent out Monthpot, except where the law allows it.
6. Your data
You own the data you put into Monthpot. We claim no rights to it beyond what we need to run the service.
You give us permission to store, copy, process and display your data only to provide Monthpot to you and your household, keep it secure, and fix problems. This permission ends when the data is deleted, apart from copies in backups, which expire as our privacy policy describes.
You can view and export your household's data at any time in Settings, including after your trial ends or after you cancel. You are responsible for having the right to the data you add.
7. AI statement reading
Monthpot can use AI to read a card or bank statement and list its transactions. This is optional. Someone in your household must agree to it before it is first used, and you can always import without AI.
AI can make mistakes. It may misread an amount, a date or a description, or miss a transaction. Monthpot shows you what it found before anything is saved. Check the results and correct them before you confirm. Our privacy policy explains which providers read your statements.
AI reading is included in the plan, with a fair monthly limit so the service stays available to everyone.
8. Loan agreements
Monthpot gives you tools to write down, track and sign loan agreements between people, such as a loan between family members or friends.
- The agreement is between the people who sign it. We are not a party to it.
- You can send an agreement to anyone by name and email, inside or outside your household. Send it only to people who expect it, with their correct name and email. To sign, they must sign in with that email address. A household can send only a limited number of agreements to people outside it each day.
- We are not a lender, a bank, a broker or a legal adviser. We do not lend money, collect payments or enforce agreements.
- We do not check that an agreement is fair, complete or enforceable where you live. If an agreement matters to you, ask a qualified lawyer.
- We keep a record of each version and signature, with an audit trail. It shows what happened in Monthpot, but we cannot promise how a court will treat it.
9. Not a bank, not advice
Monthpot is a planning tool. It is not a bank and it does not move money. It does not make payments or hold funds for you.
Nothing in Monthpot is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Budgets, buckets, goals and figures help you plan. Decisions about your money are yours. For advice about your situation, talk to a qualified professional.
10. Plans, trial and prices
Monthpot has one plan per household:
- $10 a month or $96 a year, with 2 members included;
- each extra member costs $3 a month or $30 a year.
Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax or VAT may be added, depending on where you live. Checkout shows the full price before you pay.
Free trial. Each new household gets a 30-day free trial. You do not need a card to start, and we do not charge you when the trial ends. To keep using Monthpot, choose a monthly or yearly plan. If you do not, your household's data stays there for you to view and export.
Adding and removing members. If you add a member during a billing period, you pay straight away for the rest of that period, in proportion to the time left. If you remove a member, the lower price applies from your next renewal. This does not limit our money-back guarantee.
Price changes. If we change our prices, we will email you at least 30 days before the change affects you. The new price applies from your next renewal after that notice. You can cancel before then if you do not want to continue.
11. Payments, renewal and taxes
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
When you buy a plan, Paddle's buyer terms also apply to the purchase. Paddle takes your payment, charges any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipts and invoices.
Your plan renews automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period until you cancel. Paddle charges your chosen payment method at each renewal. If a payment fails, Paddle may try again. Until it succeeds, your household may be limited to viewing and exporting its data.
You can manage your plan, update your payment method, see your invoices or cancel in the billing portal in Settings, or at paddle.net.
12. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in the billing portal in Settings or at paddle.net. You keep full access until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
After that, your household's data stays there for you to view and export. You can start a plan again at any time. If you want your data gone, delete your household or your account in Settings.
13. Refunds
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on the first payment of a subscription, monthly or yearly, and on each yearly renewal. Our refund policy explains what it covers and how to ask. Paddle pays refunds back to your original payment method.
14. Referral credit
You can invite other households with your personal invite link. When a household that signed up through your link pays its first invoice, both your household and theirs get $10 of credit towards future invoices.
- One person can earn at most 12 rewards a year.
- Inviting your own household earns nothing.
- Credit has no cash value. It cannot be exchanged for money, transferred or paid out.
- We may remove credit gained through fraud or misuse.
15. Availability and changes
We make reasonable efforts to keep Monthpot available, secure and working well. We cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance, or because of problems outside our control.
Monthpot is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about the service beyond those in these terms.
We improve Monthpot over time, and we may change or remove features. If a change takes away something important you pay for, we will tell you in advance. If we stop offering Monthpot altogether, we will tell you at least 30 days before, give you time to export your data, and refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.
16. Our intellectual property
Monthpot, including its software, design, name and logo, belongs to Affintech LLC. While you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Monthpot for your household. You may not use our name or logo without our written permission.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Monthpot without owing you anything.
17. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Monthpot at any time. You can delete your household or your account in Settings.
We may suspend or close your account or household if:
- you seriously or repeatedly break these terms;
- your use puts other users, Monthpot or the public at risk;
- the law, a court or an authority requires us to.
Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first, explain why, and give you a chance to fix the problem and to export your data. If we close your account when you have not broken these terms, we will refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.
Sections that by their nature should continue after the agreement ends, such as those on liability and governing law, continue to apply.
18. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue or business opportunity;
- we are not liable for decisions you make based on figures in Monthpot, for errors in data you confirmed, or for agreements between other people;
- we are not liable for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control;
- our total liability to you for all claims about Monthpot is limited to the greater of what your household paid for Monthpot in the 12 months before the claim, and 100 US dollars.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights when a service is not provided with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Monthpot changes or as the law requires. We will update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Monthpot after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can cancel before they take effect.
20. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Sharjah. The courts of Sharjah have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there where those laws allow it.
If you have a problem, please contact us first. Most issues can be sorted out quickly by email.
